Today, the Gray/Campbell Farmstead is a place where visitors can step back in time and experience what life was like on the Ozark prairie in the 1860s. Our buildings are not in their original locations; however, each one is authentic to the time and tells the stories of the people who lived and worked these types of farms or attended one of the one-room schools.

In the early 1980s, the Gray/Campbell farmhouse (1856) was about to be demolished. With the work of the Greene County Historical Society, the home was saved and moved to its present location. In subsequent years five other buildings and a cenotaph cemetery were added to the collection. Today, the buildings and their history are maintained and shared with the community by the Friends of the Gray/Campbell Farmstead.
