Friends of Gray/Campbell Farmstead is a not-for-profit organization founded to preserve, restore, and maintain the farmstead for the present and future generations visiting the site.
The Gray/Campbell Farmstead is run solely by volunteers. Our volunteers serve in many varied roles to maintain the site, communicate with the community, and share our collective love for the history and days gone by on the open prairie of Missouri.
Some of the volunteer opportunities include:
- Being a building docent interpreting the artifacts and sharing the history of the people, buildings, and lifestyle on the Missouri Prairie on weekends during the spring, summer, and fall months.
- Being a docent providing hands-on activities during school and private group tours
- Providing demonstrations for events. Woodworking, Dutch oven cooking, textiles, basket weaving, soap making, playing music, telling stories, rope making, and providing animals for the petting zoo.
- Maintaining, repairing, and cleaning the buildings.
- Planting, maintaining, and harvesting gardens and orchards
- Scheduling field trips, tours, and events
- Creating and sharing communications- create Student Educational Packets, make flyers and online promotions, and add events to Community Calendars.
- Fundraising- general fundraising and working the Annual Plant Sale, Bizaar, and Christmas at the Farmstead
Not sure this is right for you? Visit us on the weekends, shadow one of us during field trips, attend one of our events and you will feel the enthusiasm and love for the farmstead. Join us for our Annual Membership Brunch on March 8, 2025, from 10 am to noon in the Botanical Center to learn more and sign up to be a volunteer.
