Become A Gray/Campbell Farmstead Sponsor
,In the early 1800's many people like John Polk Campbell and Elijah Gray, took risks to leave their familiar environments, their family and friends to make a way in the new frontier. Missouri became a state in 1821, making this area, we know as the Ozarks, an enticing place to raise a family and begin expanding the country.
The risks they took and the hardships they endured carved the path to the way we live today. As a way of honoring those before us, The Friends of the Gray/Campbell Farmstead was formed. We are a not-for-profit organization founded to preserve, restore and maintain the farmstead for the present and future generation who will visit the site.
Maintaining buildings over 160 years old is not an easy or inexpensive thing to do. Our organization is funded through membership dues and donations. Our funding is also used for education programs and community events. Sponsorships are available in three ways: Sponsor A Building, Sponsor An Event, Sponsor A Project. Check out our sponsorship opportunities and choose the one that works best for you or your business. Together we can make sure these buildings and our heritage will be around for generations to come.

Sponsor A Building
The Gray/Campbell Farmstead consists of five main buildings- the house, barn, kitchen, granary and Liberty School. Each building has historical relevance to the Ozarks. Since, the buildings have all been moved from their original locations to become a part of the farmstead, they cannot be listed as Historical Sites. However, they all play an important role in telling the story of Ozark pioneers and of Springfield, Missouri.
Visitors can image themselves working on a farm or attending a one-room school in the late 1800's. They can see artifacts and tools to understand the way of life from years gone by and gain an appreciation of the lives of leisure we live today.
Consider a building sponsorship if you or your company have a tie to farming, history or the love of the Ozarks and you want to help us to continue telling the story and preserving this site. We would love to list you as a sponsor on our website (and link to your website), on social media, at the Farmstead and during our events. Contact us at gcfarmstead@gmail.com or call 417 860 0811, so we can discuss building a partnership.

Sponsor An Event
History is more than names and dates, it is about the people, it is the stories we tell for generations, it is how we connect to our roots. The best way for the Gray/Campbell Farmstead to help our community connect with their roots is through our events. Each event is free to the public and the workers are all volunteers. At each event we sell merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, activity books, cook books and craft kits. We also collect donations. Sponsorship would help us on a grand scale to not just pay for the individual events, but to maintain the property, and to potentially grow in our offerings to the public.
Read through the events listed below. Choose the one that best fits you or your company and lets talk about how we can partner together. Contact us at gcfarmstead@gmail.com or call 417 860 0811.
FIELD TRIPS Each year we host hundreds of school age children on day long field trips that involved not just touring the buildings but having hands-on experiences doing chores, working with tools, cooking delicious ginger cookies, touching artifacts, and experiencing a one-room school. We provide teachers with materials for lessons prior to and after attending the field trips. We provide each student with a take home packet about the farmstead including a kit to make their own model of the Gray/Campbell House. Year after year we hear from students that our farmstead is the best field trip they have ever been on!
The field trip docents are all volunteers, so our main expenses are for the educational packets for teachers and students and the activity supplies. We do charge $2.00 per student for field trips. Sponsorships may be made to cover a particular class or in a fund to cover the costs of students or classes that cannot afford the fee.
Second Saturday Showcases As spring approaches we start gearing up for our Second Saturday Showcases. These events happen on the Second Saturday of each month during the spring and early summer. Each showcase features a different aspect of pioneer living. We have featured Gardening and Planting, Fabrics and Fibers (quilting, sewing, home arts, weaving, spinning, etc.), Music, and more. Each event has demonstrations and venders who focus on the month's topic.
Demonstrators and docents are volunteers. Our main expenses are for tents, promotions, and activity supplies.
1860's Lifestyle Expo Fall is a wonderful time to share the story of the Gray/Campbell Farmstead. The third weekend in September is set aside for our 1860's Lifestyle Expo. During this weekend you will experience live music, dancing, food venders, demonstrations on everything from apple butter making, woodcarving, quilting, basket weaving, and lots of fun activities for kids.
Demonstrators and docents are volunteers. Our main expenses are for activity su0pplies.
Christmas at the Farmstead Whether you have been naughty or nice, you will have a chance for a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, enjoying decorating live trees with homemade ornaments, decorate cookies and sip on hot chocolate. You can enjoy the music of the season and tour all of the buildings on the first Saturday of December.
Docents are all volunteers. Our expenses include supplies for the activities.
Other future events: We are always brainstorming ideas for more events, such as offering classes, having music jams, quilting bees, farm to table dinners and the list goes on. If you have a particular interest that you think would blend itself to a new event at the farmstead we would love to partner with you. Again, you can contact us at gcfarmstead@gmail.com or call 417 860 0811.
